Hardware Firmware and Operating System Support Policy

Modified on Tue, 18 Aug at 12:13 PM

Purpose

This policy defines the support provided by Add-On Products regarding firmware, operating systems, security updates, and platform upgrades for third-party hardware devices supplied as part of our solutions.

Scope

This policy applies to all hardware devices where firmware, operating systems, embedded software, and security maintenance are developed and maintained by the hardware manufacturer.

This includes, but is not limited to, hardware platforms supplied by manufacturers such as QBIC Technology, Glory Star, and other third-party hardware vendors supported by Add-On Products.

Ownership and Responsibility

Hardware devices are supplied with firmware and operating systems developed and maintained by the respective hardware manufacturers.

Add-On Products does not develop, maintain, test or control device firmware, operating systems, security updates, product lifecycles, or upgrade roadmaps. Responsibility for these areas remains solely with the hardware manufacturer.

Hardware product lifecycles, end-of-support dates, Android version availability, security update periods, and firmware roadmaps are determined solely by the hardware manufacturer and may change without notice.

Firmware, Operating System, and Security Updates

The availability of firmware updates, operating system upgrades, security patches, and ongoing device support is determined solely by the hardware manufacturer.

Add-On Products cannot make any commitments regarding the availability, timing, scope, compatibility, or delivery method of future updates. Customers should not assume that the purchase of a hardware device includes entitlement to future firmware updates, operating system upgrades, or security patches unless explicitly stated by the hardware manufacturer.

Where updates are made available, installation methods may vary and can include over-the-air deployment, manual installation procedures, USB-based installation, or other manufacturer-defined methods.

Optional Assistance Services

Where updates are available from the hardware manufacturer, Add-On Products may, upon request and subject to resource availability, assist with obtaining update packages, providing available documentation, coordinating with the manufacturer, and supporting update planning or installation activities. Such assistance is provided on a best-effort basis only and is subject to the availability of information, software packages, documentation, and support from the hardware manufacturer.

Chargeable Services

Any assistance related to firmware, operating system updates, security patches, update investigations, installation support, troubleshooting, or communication with the hardware manufacturer is considered a professional service and may be charged according to Add-On Products' current support and consultancy rates.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Add-On Products shall not be liable for the availability or absence of firmware updates, operating system upgrades, security patches, manufacturer roadmap decisions, decisions by the hardware manufacturer to discontinue support for a product, compatibility issues, or service disruptions resulting from firmware or operating system changes provided by the hardware manufacturer.

Policy Changes

Add-On Products reserves the right to modify this policy at any time without prior notice. The latest version will be available through official Add-On Products communication channels.
